BARN HOME FINANCING MADE EASY:
A Conversation with Tyler Hoefler

by Tyler Hoefler

At National Barn Company, we understand that turning your barn home into a reality often requires more than just passion and vision—it takes the right financing partner, too. We recently had a conversation with Tyler Hoefler, Vice President of New Century Bank, one of our valued financial partners. They collaborate closely with us to provide financing options of up to 100% for your custom barn projects.

In this interview, Tyler provides valuable perspective on barn home financing and discusses New Century Bank‘s role in bringing customers’ dream barn projects to life. We also gain insight into Tyler’s background and experience.

1. What’s your favorite thing about what you do?

Tyler’s enthusiasm for his work is palpable. He said, “Every day, I get to help people build their dream barn home.” It’s clear that his role at New Century Bank isn’t just a job; it’s a passion for making people’s dreams come true.

2. What is your most memorable lending project and why?

“We had a customer who came to us after starting their project. The bank they were working with stopped making draws mid-construction and told them to find another lender or face foreclosure. They were left with a half-finished home and no one to help them. On the brink of financial ruin, we were able to do a new construction mortgage to help them finish their home.”

3. What advice would you give someone who’s looking to finance a custom barn?

Tyler’s advice was clear and invaluable: “Find a bank that understands what you are trying to do and has experience with construction mortgages for barn homes and buildings.” Having a lender who understands the unique challenges and opportunities of custom barn financing is crucial to a successful project.

"Every day, I get to help people build their dream barn home."

4. How long on average does the lending process take?

“We can get an individual prequalified in a couple of days. Once we have a fully bid out project, we can order an appraisal. Once we have an appraisal and title work, we can close on the construction mortgage.”

5. Why do you think barns are so important to American heritage and culture?

“Barns and post-and-beam homes were some of the first buildings built across America since the first settlers started came to this country. The trade and method of building is still alive today and fast growing. It is in the DNA of this country.”

6. Share a personal motto or mantra that keeps you motivated and focused on your goals.

Tyler’s personal motto, “Faith Gives Us Life,” underscores the importance of belief and perseverance in both life and work. It’s a powerful reminder of the values that drive him to help people build their dreams.

7. If your life had a theme song, what would it be?

Tyler’s choice of “Compassion Hymn” by Stuart Townend reflects his deep sense of empathy and compassion. It’s a song that speaks to the values he holds dear, both in his personal life and in his role at New Century Bank.

8. Where were you born and raised, and what do you love about where you grew up?

Born and raised in Manhattan, Kansas, Tyler grew up in a small college town in the heart of the country. He fondly recalls golfing, fishing, and attending Kansas State football and basketball games. This upbringing instilled in him a love for community and the simple joys of life.

Tyler’s insights and passion for helping individuals finance their homes are a testament to the dedication and expertise that New Century Bank brings to the table. At National Barn Company, we’re honored to work with professionals like Tyler who share our commitment to preserving and celebrating America’s rich heritage through the art of barn home construction.
